NextImg:Jaguars’ Chris Claybrooks arrested again on domestic violence charge

Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks was arrested Friday afternoon for his second domestic violence charge this year.

Claybrooks, 25, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. on Friday for misdemeanor domestic battery and false imprisonment — a felony, according to NewsJax4, which cited Duval County Jail records.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

It’s unclear what led to Friday’s arrest.

“We are aware of the arrest of Chris Claybrooks and are currently in the process of gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time,” the Jaguars said in a statement Friday.

Claybrooks was arrested in April after an incident in Nashville in April where he allegedly grabbed his ex-girlfriend’s hand, ripped her phone away and threw it into the ground, destroying the device.

An affidavit from the Davidson County, Tenn., clerk of criminal courts, which was obtained by the Florida Times-Union, said the woman had bruises and abrasions on her right hand.

Claybrooks was charged with domestic assault with bodily injury and vandalism, both misdemeanors, though they were later dropped, according to the Times-Union.

Claybrooks was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft after two seasons at Memphis.

Since entering the league he has recorded 81 tackles with one fumble recovery with Jacksonville.

He is owed just over $1 million this upcoming season, which is the final year of his rookie contract.
