NextImg:Jack Nicholson makes rare public appearance at Lakers playoff game

It feels like all is right in the world when Jack Nicholson is sitting courtside at a Lakers game.

Nicholson, 86, whose public appearances in general now are sparse, was spotted by NBA reporter Rachel Nichols taking his customary seat at the Crypto.com Arena before the Lakers play the Grizzlies in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series on Friday.

It marks Nicholson’s first Lakers game since opening night of last season, Nichols tweeted.

As of this past January, Nicholson had not been seen out in public in over a year.

That appearance was Nicholson’s first in over a year, according to Page Six.

Nicholson has long been synonymous with the Lakers, in the same way Spike Lee is with the Knicks, but the legendary actor’s fandom dates even further back.

The three-time Oscar winner has held Lakers season tickets since 1970.

The Lakers hold a 3-2 lead over the Grizzlies in a best-of-seven series for the right to play the winner of the Kings-Warriors series in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

The Grizzlies, already missing big man Steven Adams for what is expected to be the duration of the postseason, will be without sharpshooting forward Luke Kennard, who suffered a shoulder injury during Game 5.

With Los Angeles’ hope of knocking off Memphis on Friday, Lakers superstar LeBron James has been vocally excited about the ascendance of his teammate Austin Reaves.

Jack Nicholson is at his first Lakers game in about 18 months for Game 6 versus the Grizzlies.

“I don’t give a f–k about, like, athleticism; how great you can shoot the ball; how high you can jump; how fast you can run,” James told ESPN, speaking about Reaves.

“I like high basketball IQ guys. Obviously, you got to have that s–t to win a championship. You got to have guys that can do extraordinary s–t. But like, I’ve always had a liking to guys that just know how to play the f–king game of basketball.”

The Lakers are five-point home favorites on Friday night.
