Ivanka Trump has replaced the lawyers she once shared with her brothers – Donald Jr. and Eric Trump – in the $250 million lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James alleging fraud in the family real estate company.
The split signals that former President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter plans to mount a different defense strategy in the case than that of her siblings.
Forbes reported on Wednesday that Ivanka Trump has retained Bennet Moskowitz of the firm Troutman Pepper as her sole attorney on the case.
Moskowitz previously represented the estate of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Ivanka Trump had been repped by the two attorneys hired by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump – Clifford Robert and Michael Farina – shortly after the suit was filed against the Trump Organization and Trump family.
Moskowitz is also taking over for two Washington, DC-based lawyers – Reid Figel and Michael Kellogg – hired by Ivanka Trump independently of her brothers.
The first sign that the Trump siblings could be pursuing divergent defense strategies emerged on March 6, according to Forbes, when one of Ivanka’s former attorneys asked the judge to delay the trial.
“The complaint does not contain a single allegation that Ms. Trump directly or indirectly created, prepared, reviewed or certified any of her father’s financial statements. The complaint affirmatively alleges that other individuals were responsible for those tasks,” her then-representation alleged.

James’ civil suit, filed last September, accuses the Trump family of fraudulently inflating the value of assets – including real estate and golf courses – to allegedly obtain favorable loans and tax benefits.
The lawsuit seeks to obtain a $250 million repayment of financial benefits allegedly obtained fraudulently by the Trump Organization. It also aims to remove all four Trumps from their roles at the family business and ban them from future leadership roles in the state.
The trial is scheduled to begin in October.
