And Just Like That Season 2 opens with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in a decidedly much better place than the Season 1 premiere left her. While Carrie spent much of the first season of the Sex and the City spin-off grieving the loss of Big (Chris Noth), the season ended with Carrie impulsively kissing her hot podcast producer Franklyn Silvias (Ivan Hernandez). The very first show of Season 2 of the Max show is Carrie strutting into her bedroom, where a shirtless Franklyn sits waiting.

But don’t get it twisted: Franklyn is not Carrie’s new boyfriend.

As Carrie explains to pals Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Seema (Sarita Choudhury), and Anthony (Mario Cantone) at lunch, she is having “‘exit out of grief sex’ every Thursday with a very nice man.” “Exit out of grief sex” isn’t a academic term, so much as a phrase coined by the And Just Like That… Season 2 premiere’s writers Michael Patrick King & Susan Fales-Hill. And it seems to be all that Carrie wants to be having with Franklyn.

Indeed, as Carrie explains to Franklyn later in the premiere episode, she’s not ready to be anything more than a casual Thursday night sex partner for the podcast producer. So does that mean that Franklyn and Carrie aren’t going to last long on And Just Like That… Season 2? And if so, where can you get your Ivan Hernandez fix outside of the Sex and the City sequel show?

Here’s everything you need to know about Carrie’s new beau, Franklyn, and the actor who plays him, Ivan Hernandez…

So who plays Franklyn, Carrie’s new love interest on And Just Like That…? That would be Ivan Hernandez. The American actor has had a scattered TV career, appearing in guest spots on shows like The Good Wife and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, but you might best know him for his run on Devious Maids and his recent work as Nalini’s (Poorna Jagannathan) boyfriend Andres in the fourth and final season of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever.

Hitherto, Ivan Hernandez has primarily worked in the theater, in a variety of Broadway and off-Broadway productions, from Chicago to Camelot. His official stage bio reveals he is married to wife Tine and is the father of two daughters. He is currently starring in New York City Center’s production of The Light in the Piazza.

Do not keep reading if you have not yet finished the first two episodes of And Just Like That… on Max!! We’re warning you!! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Even if the trailers for And Just Like That… Season 2 featuring the return of Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) didn’t tip you off, you probably saw Franklyn and Carrie’s amicable split from a mile away. Carrie herself professed that she didn’t want to be in a relationship with Franklyn. He, on the other hand, wanted to be more than just Thursdays.

Franklyn and Carrie have a totally nice and mature breakup at the end of And Just Like That… Season 2 Episode 2 “The Real Deal.” We have not seen him return in the seven episodes Max sent to critics to screen.
