NextImg:Israeli survivors explain how Hamas indoctrinates Gazan children to become ‘the terrorists of today’

Survivors of Hamas’ deadly Oct. 7 attack on Israel say “drastic” measures are need to stop the terror group indoctrinating Gazan children with their warped and violent worldview.

“It’s not enough for us to get rid of the Hamas,” said 68-year-old Adele Raemer, who spent 14 hours locked in her home’s saferoom as Hamas terrorists burned Kibbutz Nirim to the ground around her.

“Something very drastic is going to have to happen in order to re-educate anybody who’s living on the other side, so the threat is neutralized,” she told The Post.

An educator for in Israel for over four decades, Raemer frequently volunteered in educational initiatives with Palestinian teachers over the years and has seen the kinds of ideas impressed on Gazan children in classrooms by the Hamas regime.

“These children are taught hate in their textbooks. They’re taught, ‘If you have six Jews and you kill four of them, how many Jews do you have left?’ literally,” she said.

Hamas textbooks have been widely criticized for distorting and inventing facts about the history of Palestinians and Israel, along with pushing an anti-Semitic worldview which frames anybody killed in conflict with Israel as a “martyr.”

Maya Parizer, 27, used to sympathize with the plight of Gazan children during the conflict with Israel in 2014 — even argued on their behalf during heated discussions with friends at the time — but was left wondering “Is there hope in the world?” after surviving the massacre at the Nova Festival on October 7.

“Those kids, those innocent kids that I debated and fought with my friends, saying ‘They’re innocent, they just want to live life like you like me,’ They’re the terrorists of today.”

Hamas is notorious for indoctrinating children against Israel not just in the classroom, but also in militarized summer camps where they don uniforms, learn to shoot guns, and are trained in military tactics, according to the Times of Israel.

“They’re the one who kidnapped my friends, they’re the ones who wanted to kill as many of us as possible,” Parizer said.

“How can I still have faith that they’re good people there, when I see that what they’ve done to my friends, what they’ve done to women, what they’ve done to children?” she added. “I still care, even though I don’t think they deserve it.”

Raemer said the people around the world who have been demonstrating for Palestinians — carrying signs reading “By any means necessary” and chanting “From the river to the sea …” — don’t understand that the enemy of Palestinians is not Israel, but the extremist ideology of Hamas and its exploitive governing.

“It’s all about the downtrodden, backing up the downtrodden. But what they don’t understand is those downtrodden are first of all downtrodden by their own leaders,” she said.

“We have to get rid of the Hamas, not only for us, but also for the good of the Palestinian people.

“For the people who live where I live, [it’s] in their best interest for the people on the other side to prosper. And we’ve been saying that all along. But when they say ‘Palestine will be free, from the river to the sea,’ [meaning the eradication of Israel] we have to understand that is a genocidal war cry, and I take them at their word.”

Netta Atzili, 20, whose parents were taken hostage by Hamas while he barricaded himself in his apartment armed with nothing more than a kitchen knife, said the terror group doesn’t care about the lives of the Palestinian people — only their value as cannon fodder in its quest to destroy Israel.

“I think it’s very important that people understand that this isn’t Israel versus Palestine. It’s Hamas versus everything,” he said.

“It’s terrible that people from Palestine die because of our attacks. But Hamas, they knew it was going to happen. And not only did they know that, they counted on us killing their civilians as collateral damage, they use them as human shields. They put their supplies and infrastructures under hospitals in densely populated areas, in schools.”

“They’re a cancer on society, they would extort, they would risk their civilians, they will do anything just to hurt us,” he said.
