Israeli officials released footage of forces striking sites inside of Lebanon, including two Hezbollah ammunition depots — as the terrorist group vowed to “present the enemy with unexpected surprises.”
The clip released by the Israeli Defense Forces on Monday shows smoke and debris flying from the two separate munitions depots near Lebanon’s coastal city of Sidon.
Military officials also said they conducted strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in the Meiss El Jabal and al-Adisa areas of the Arab country.
Videos posted online showed flames and heavy plumes of smoke rising up into the air in what appeared to be a residential area.
The IDF has said the strikes on Monday came in response to the terrorist group launching a drone from Lebanon that landed in Galilee, in northern Israel.
Officers who responded to the scene Monday morning found a large crater left by the drone, and parts of the device strewn across a field near a kindergarten, according to the Jewish Press.
“We located an unmanned aerial vehicle from Hezbollah near Tiberias, which apparently crossed today and crashed near Tiberias,” Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a news conference.
“In response to this activity, we attacked weapons depots near Sidon.”
The attacks are part of Israel’s efforts to “thwart terrorist activities and protect its borders from threats emanating from Lebanon,” an IDF spokesman added, according to Israel’s i24 News.
But Hezbollah officials have suggested that it will continue to attack Israel, with Sheikh Nabil Kaouk, a member of the group’s central council, confirming on Monday it “is engaged in a genuine confrontation of endurance along the border with Israel.
“The enemy remains undeterred by UN resolutions, unaffected by the decisions of the International Court of Justice and unswayed by all statements of condemnation and concern,” he said, according to the Arab News.
Kaouk noted that Hezbollah “diligently prepares for all potential scenarios, readying itself to present the enemy with unexpected surprises.
“The party should not be swayed by threats and intimidation, as safeguarding the security of our people and country takes precedence over all considerations.”
He also stressed that Hezbollah’s position remains clear: “There will be no ceasefire until the aggression against Gaza comes to a halt, even in the face of any imposed pressures on us.”
The group has already conducted nine military operations attacking Israeli forces over the past 48 hours.
