Dakota Fanning stars in the new supernatural horror The Watchers, which is coming to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this flick!
Based A. M. Shine’s novel of the same name, The Watchers follows a 28-year-old artist who gets stranded in a massive forrest in western Ireland, ultimately finding herself trapped with three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures every night.
So, where can you watch The Watchers? Will it be on Max? What about Netflix?
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
As of now, the only way to watch The Watchers is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, June 7. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube and Amazon, or becomes available to stream on Max. Keep reading for more information.
The Watchers is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures — meaning it will eventually join Max. Since the company no longer drops its movies on the streaming platform the same day they’re released in theaters, we are going to have to wait at least 45 days before we can watch from the comfort of our living rooms.
While there is no official streaming release date yet, The Color Purple, another Warner Bros. movie, was released in theaters on Dec. 25 and didn’t make its way to Max until Feb. 16 — nearly eight weeks after it debuted. If The Watchers follows the same trajectory, it’s possible we won’t be able to stream it until early August 2024.
Warner Bros. Discovery films typically head right to Max after their release, however, it is completely possible that The Watchers will join Netflix at some point in the future. This is due to a deal penned between the two streaming giants that gave Netflix the streaming rights to eight DCEU movies along with other Warner Bros. Discovery projects like the original Dune and Meg 2: The Trench.
