If you’re ready to get into spooky season mode, go ahead and go see The Strangers: Chapter 2 in theaters this weekend. (After you watch the first movie, The Strangers: Chapter 1, streaming on Starz, that is.)

Directed by Renny Harlin (who also helmed the first movie), with a screenplay written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, this is a reboot trilogy of the 2008 horror movie The Strangers, from Bryan Bertino. The second film in this reboot trilogy finds Maya Luca (played by Madelaine Petsch) dealing with the fallout of an attack of three masked assailants known as “the Strangers.” Though she lost her longtime love, Ryan (Froy Gutierrez), she is still alive. But can she stay that way?

Also starring Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath, The Strangers: Chapter 2 will supposedly be a little different from the first movie, taking place over just a few days after Maya was attacked. You don’t want to miss out, so read on to find out where to watch The Strangers: Chapter 2 and when and where we expect to be able to watch The Strangers: Chapter 2 movie on streaming.

For now, The Strangers Chapter 2 will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, September 26. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. The Strangers Chapter 2 is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

The Strangers Chapter 2 is not streaming on Netflix right now. That said, The Strangers Chapter 2 is a Lionsgate release, and another recent Lionsgate release, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, began streaming on Netflix after two-and-a-half-months in theaters. However, that seems to be the exception, because all the Lionsgate movies following The Strangers Chapter 2 have not streamed on Netflix. So most likely, The Strangers Chapter 2 will not be streaming on Netflix anytime soon.

You will be able to purchase The Strangers Chapter 2 on Amazon Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital. You also might be able to stream The Strangers Chapter 2 on Prime for free eventually, thanks to the new deal between Lionsgate and Amazon that will send the 2026 Lionsgate movies to Amazon Prime for the “Pay 1” window, after the films play in theaters. Even though it’s still 2025, according to Variety, Prime Video also got the streaming rights to a “package” of 2025 films, too. It’s not clear which films those are, and if it includes The Strangers Chapter 2. But it’s possible that Amazon subscribers will be able to stream The Strangers Chapter 2 for free on Prime in the next year or so.

The Strangers Chapter 2 is not yet streaming on Starz. You might see The Strangers Chapter 2 on Starz later this year, because it is a Lionsgate film, and Lionsgate extended its output deal with Starz, despite the fact the studios are still planning to separate in 2026. Supposedly, under the new terms of the deal, Starz will have exclusive rights to Lionsgate films post-theaters, and that the window will now come sooner after the movie’s theatrical run.

In practice, the recent Lionsgate films don’t seem to be streaming on Starz at an accelerated rate. The 2025 Lionsgate film Den of Thieves 2: Pantera began streaming on Netflix about two-and-a-half months after opening in theaters, and yet the movie is still not streaming on Starz. So, that’s confusing! The 2025 Lionsgate movie Shadow Force began streaming on Starz on about four months after the movie opened in the theaters. If The Strangers Chapter 2 follows the same release pattern, you might see the movie on Starz in about four months, which would be around January 2026.

Starz typically costs $10.99/month, but right now, you can subscribe and get your first three months for $4.99/month. Additionally, you can prepay for $29.99 for 12 months of Starz and save $40.

But clearly, not all Lionsgate movies are following that strategy in 2025, and some may be going to Prime instead of Starz. Other Lionsgate movies have taken upwards of nine months to stream on Starz. Right now, we don’t have a clear look at Lionsgate’s 2025 release strategy. If you want to see The Strangers Chapter 2 right away, you should go watch it in a movie theater.
