We’re still waiting for our Tuesday night staples — The Rookie, Will Trent, and High Potential — to return with new episodes, but thankfully, there are a ton of fun new shows around to keep us company.
If you’re in the mood for Gen Z shenanigans, we suggest checking out Adults on Hulu and Benito Skinner’s sensational new coming-of-age college comedy Overcompensating on Prime Video. Perhaps you need a little something to hold you over before Happy Gilmore 2 drops on Netflix? Try Apple TV+’s new Owen Wilson-led golf comedy Stick! We’re also watching The Four Seasons on Netflix, the new season of Poker Face on Peacock, and the new dark comedy Sirens (Netflix).
So much TV, so little time. When exactly does The Rookie return with new episodes? Here’s everything you need to know.
Nope. The season finale of The Rookie aired Tuesday, May 13 on ABC. Tonight’s ABC primetime schedule consists of a new episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, followed by reruns of Jeopardy! Masters and The Game Show Show.
Nope. The seventh season consists of 18 total episodes.
Of course! In April 2025, ABC renewed The Rookie for an eighth season. Per Deadline, the upcoming season is expected to consist of 18 episodes.
Unfortunately, The Rookie isn’t on ABC’s 2025 fall schedule. Just like last season, the network is holding The Rookie and Will Trent for midseason. No official premiere dates have been announced, but both shows are expected to return in January 2026.
Yes! Every episode of The Rookie is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
If you’re new to Hulu, you can get started with a 30-day free trial on the streamer’s basic (with ads) plan. After the trial period, you’ll pay $9.99/month. If you want to upgrade to Hulu ad-free, it costs $18.99/month.
If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the Disney+ Bundles, all of which include Hulu. These bundles start at $10.99/month for ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and goes up to $29.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max, all ad-free.
