Tired of hearing about super serious, four-hour-long Oscar movies? Then try Riff Raff, a light, breezy, under-two-hour comedy opening in theaters this weekend.

Directed by Dito Montiel, with a script written by John Pollono, Riff Raff is a crime comedy starring the legendary Ed Harris as a retired criminal whose life is thrown into turmoil when his family and friends comes seeking revenge. When will the protagonists of Hollywood movies learn that you can never outrun your past?

The stacked Riff Raff cast includes Jennifer Coolidge as Harris’s on-screen ex-wife, Gabrielle Union as Harris’s on-screen current wife, and Lewis Pullman as Harris’s on-screen son. Additional cast include Pete Davidson,
Bill Murray, Miles J. Harvey, and Emanuela Postacchini.

Riff Raff first premiered at Toronto Film Festival last fall, and it sounds like exactly the light-hearted palette cleanser we need right now in the height of awards season. Here’s what to know about where to watch the Riff Raff movie, and when we expect to see Riff Raff streaming on digital platforms.

For now, Riff Raff will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters wide in the U.S. on Friday, February 28. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Riff Raff is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Riff Raff is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible Riff Raff may stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. Riff Raff is not a Netflix original—it’s a small, independent film being distributed by Roadside Attractions. While some Roadside Attractions movies have gone on to stream on Netflix, like 2022’s Emily the Criminal, most of the studio’s recent pictures have not gone to Netflix. Never say never, but it’s unlikely you’ll see Riff Raff streaming on Netflix anytime soon.

You will be able to purchase Riff Raff on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Riff Raff for free on Prime Video any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Riff Raff movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms.

The Riff Raff movie digital release date has not yet been announced. However, we can make an educated guess as to when we might see Riff Raff on video-on-demand, based on the digital release of previous films from Roadside Attractions.

Another Roadside Attractions movie, The Last Showgirl, was released in theaters on December 13, and was released on digital platforms on February 18—aka, about two months after opening in theaters. If Riff Raff follows a similar pattern, you might see the movie on video-on-demand in about two moths time, around late April 2025.

But this is all speculation. Digital releases vary by title. If you want to see Riff Raff right away, you can catch the movie in a theater.
