Where to Stream:

The Residence

With all that murder and mystery, who wouldn’t want more?

Season 1 of Netflix and Shonda Rhimes‘ latest series, The Residence, may have ended with Detective Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) finding the person responsible for murdering A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito) and wrapping things up in a tight bow, but if there’s one thing we know about this genre, it’s that there is always another murder to investigate. And since Detective Cupp is — at least canonically in the series — the world’s greatest detective, we know that she has an insatiable appetite for answers.

**Spoilers ahead for Season 1 of The Residence on Netflix**

Here’s everything we know about The Residence Season 2, including if Netflix has renewed the show, how Season 1 ended — including who killed A.B. Wynter and why — as well as five other whodunnit mysteries on Netflix to satiate you until we see Detective Cordelia Cupp on our screens again.

At this time, Netflix has not renewed The Residence for a second season. Given that the show’s title refers to the particular location where the murder in Season 1 takes place, it could be tricky to imagine a Season 2 back at The White House. However, we could totally see The Residence becoming a show like The White Lotus where Detective Cupp solves murders at various residences around the world, similar to Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out franchise.

Eight episodes of back and forth, testimonials, and mismatched timelines all culminated in the Season 1 finale where (spoiler alert) Lilly Schumacher (Molly Griggs) was revealed to have killed her boss, A.B. Wynter. In the finale, Detective Cupp finally realizes that Lilly had been stealing money and violating numerous ethical codes while working as The White House social coordinator. After confronting her about it, Lilly hatched a diabolical plan to kill A.B. and stage his death as a suicide. She almost got away with it, too, although she was no match for Cordelia Cupp’s power of perception and detective skills. Check out Decider’s full breakdown of the Season 1 finale of The Residence here.

Aside from Aduba and Esposito, The Residence boasts an all-star cast including Ken Marino, Eliza Coupe, Randall Park, Al Franken, Susan Kelechi Watson, Julian McMahon, and more.

The Residence is really a uniquely comedic drama but Netflix does have some other great whodunnit shows for any mystery lovers. If you need a fix, we recommend you check out these five Netflix originals after finishing The Residence

The Residence Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
