Remember that 2021 Liam Neeson movie, The Ice Road, that released on Netflix? No? Well, neutral news: The Ice Road 2, aka Ice Road: Vengeance, opens in theaters this weekend.
Written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, who also wrote and directed the first movie, Ice Road: Vengeance picks up pretty much right after the events of the first film. Neeson’s character, Mike, is mourning the death of his brother Gurty (Marcus Thomas), who died while the brothers were on a dangerous job driving a rig across a frozen lake. Now, on a mission to scatter his brother’s ashes, Mike has another dangerous road to drive: the infamous Road to the Sky of Mt. Everest. As if the terrain weren’t danger enough, Mike and his mountain guide (Fan Bingbing) face off with some mercenaries and must fight to save themselves and the locals they meet along the way.
The 2021 Ice Road movie was acquired by Netflix for distribution, back in the height of the pandemic when few movies were going to theaters. But this time, Neeson is driving on the big screen. Read on to find out where to watch Ice Road: Vengeance, and when we expect to be able to watch Ice Road: Vengeance on streaming.
For now, Ice Road: Vengeance will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in select theaters in the U.S. on Friday, June 27. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Ice Road: Vengeance is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Ice Road: Vengeance is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible Ice Road: Vengeance may stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. Unlike the first Ice Road movie, Ice Road: Vengeance is not a Netflix original—it’s a small, independent film being distributed by Vertical in the U.S.
That said, because the first movie was bought and distributed by Netflix, it’s possible that Netflix will eventually buy the streaming rights for Ice Road: Vengeance. But even if that happens, it will likely be at least three or more months before you’d be able to stream the movie. In the meantime, you can still watch the first Ice Road movie on Netflix.
You will be able to purchase Ice Road: Vengeance on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Ice Road: Vengeance on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Ice Road: Vengeance movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms.
That said, several other releases from Vertical Entertainment have gone on to stream on Max, so it’s possible you might see Is the Ice Road: Vengeance movie streaming on Max in the future.
Ice Road: Vengeance is not currently streaming on Max, but may be streaming on Max someday. While there is no formal (or, at least, publicly known) output deal between Vertical Entertainment, two previous Vertical movies, Your Monster and Elevation, began streaming on Max a little over three months after the movies opened in theaters. If Ice Road: Vengeance follows a similar pattern, you might see Ice Road: Vengeancestreaming on Max around September or October 2025. That said, not all the Vertical movies have gone on to Max, so it’s not a hard and fast rule.

Another Vertical movie, In the Lost Lands, was released in theaters on March 7, and was released on digital platforms on April 8, about one month after opening in theaters. If Ice Road: Vengeance follows a similar pattern, you might see the Ice Road: Vengeance movie on video-on-demand around late July 2025.
But this is all speculation. Digital releases vary by title. If you want to see Ice Road 2 right away, you can catch the movie in a theater.
