As the latest from Yash Raj Films, The Great Indian Family is about to present the “biggest confusion of the year” when it releases in theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this new Hindi-language dramedy!
The Great Indian Family follows Ved Vyas Tripathi (Vicky Kaushal) — who seemingly has it all. However, the religious Hindu man’s world is shattered when he learns he is actually Muslim by birth, thus thrusting him into an identity crisis.
So, where can you watch The Great Indian Family? Will be it be on Prime Video? What about Netflix?
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
As of now, the only way to watch The Great Indian Family is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on Friday, Sept. 22. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple.
Since a digital release date has not been announced yet, it’s hard to say when The Great Indian Family will be available to rent or buy. Based on a previous Yash Raj Films movie like War (2019), we can make a guess of around 45 to 60 days after its theatrical release, which would land around early November 2023.
Plus, if The Great Indian Family follows a similar trajectory to War, it could potentially become available to stream for free for Prime Video subscribers. However, no official announcement has been made at this time.
While Yash Raj Films just signed a multi-year partnership with Netflix, there has been no announcement that The Great Indian Family will join the platform. In the meantime, you’ll just have to head out to theaters or wait until it becomes available on digital.
