NextImg:Is 'The First Omen' streaming on Netflix or HBO Max?

It’s only been a few weeks since Sydney Sweeney played a nun traveling to the Italian countryside in the horror film Immaculate — and now, 20th Century Studios is bringing a similar story to theaters with The First Omen. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch it!

The First Omen — which stars Nell Tiger Free, Sônia Braga and Bill Nighy — follows an American woman who is sent to work at a church in Italy. However, she “encounters darkness” when she uncovers a “terrifying conspiracy” that hopes to bring on the birth of the Antichrist.

So, where can you watch The First Omen? Will it be on Netflix? What about Max?

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:

As of now, the only way to watch The First Omen is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, April 5. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube and Amazon, or available to stream on Hulu. Keep reading for more information.

Since The First Omen is being distributed by 20th Century Studios, it will eventually make its way to either Disney+ or Hulu. However, it’s more likely that it will stream on the latter since that’s where most of the company’s more adult content lands.

While a streaming release date has not yet been announced, we can make a guess based on A Haunting in Venice — which came to Hulu about 45 days after debuting in theaters. If The First Omen follows the same trajectory, you might be able to watch it from the comfort of your home by mid-May 2024.

No, The First Omen will not be on Max since it’s not a Warner Bros. movie. The platform — previously known as HBO Max — also no longer does direct-to-streaming releases. Instead, they’ve implemented a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the Max release.

No, The First Omen will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. While it’s possible the film may come to the streamer at some point in the future, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available on streaming.
