Who’s ready to welcome Emma Stone back to the big screen? We certainly are! Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch her new film, Poor Things.
Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and produced by Stone, Poor Things follows Bella Baxter, a young woman who gets brought back to life by a “brilliant and unorthodox” scientist, played by Willem Dafoe. With a desire to learn and explore, the woman decides to run off with lawyer Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo).
So, where can you watch Poor Things? Is it on Prime Video? What about Netflix?
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
As of now, the only way to watch Poor Things is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, Dec. 8. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube and Amazon.
Since Searchlight Pictures (the film’s distributor) is owned by Disney, Poor Things will likely come to Hulu at some point in the future. While a release date has not yet been announced, we can make a guess based on a previous Searchlight flick.
Theater Camp, which came out in theaters on July 14, officially landed on Hulu Sept. 14 — exactly two months after its theatrical debut. If Poor Things follows the same trajectory, it could come to the streaming platform as early as Feb. 8, 2024.
No, Poor Things will not be on Max since it’s not a Warner Bros. movie. The platform — previously known as HBO Max — also no longer does direct-to-streaming releases. Instead, they’ve implemented a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the Max release.
No, Poor Things will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. While it’s possible the movie may come to the streamer at some point in the future, you’ll just have to head out to a theater or wait for it to become available on digital platforms in the meantime.
