Overlord fans, the wait is nearly over, because the Overlord movie—aka Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom—opens in select U.S. theaters this week.

This is the first feature film in the popular Japanese anime series, and will pick up after the conclusion of Season 4. The film is directed by Naoyuki Itô, character designed by Satoshi Tasaki, with music by Shuji Katayama (Team-MAX) for the MADHOUSE production.

Here’s the official synopsis of the movie from Crunchyroll, which is handling the North American distribution: “After twelve years of playing his favorite MMORPG game, Momonga logs in for the last time only to find himself transported into its world playing it indefinitely. Throughout his adventures, his avatar ascends to the title of Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown. Once prosperous but now on the brink of ruin, The Sacred Kingdom enjoyed years of peace after construction of an enormous wall protecting them from neighboring invasions. But, one day this comes to an end when the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth arrives with an army of villainous demi-humans. Fearing invasion of their own lands, the neighboring territory of the Slane Theocracy is forced to beg their enemies at the Sorcerer Kingdom for help. Heeding the call, Momonga, now known as the Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown, rallies the Sorcerer Kingdom and its undead army to join the fight alongside the Sacred Kingdom and the Slane Theocracy in hopes to defeat the Demon Emperor.”

Here’s what to know about where to watch the Overlord movie.

For now, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in select theaters in the U.S. on Thursday, November 7. You can find a showing at a movie theater near you via the Overlord movie website. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom not streaming on Netflix or Hulu at this time. Right now, you can only watch the movie in a theater.

You might see Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom on Netflix or Hulu in the U.S. eventually, because the 2022 Overlord TV series is already streaming on Netflix and Hulu. That said, you may have to wait awhile.

The Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom streaming release date on Netflix and Hulu has not yet been announced. That said, the movie is being released by Crunchyroll in North America, so it’s likely you will see the movie streaming on Crunchyroll before it streams anywhere else. Crunchyroll is a subscription streaming service that hosts a lot of anime content. Prices range from $7.99–$15.99 a month, and they currently offer a 14-day free trial.

But right now, the movie is not on Crunchyroll, or on Netflix or Hulu. If you want to watch the movie right away, you’ll have to see it in a movie theater.
