Netflix’s beloved Karate Kid sequel series Cobra Kai threw its final roundhouse kick in February 2025. The three-part final season offered the perfect coda, delivering the ultimate Johnny Lawrence redemption story Karate Kid fans never knew they always needed.
Will Cobra Kai ever return? Who knows. Multiple spinoffs have been discussed, and you know what they say: Cobra Kai never dies! One thing we know for certain is that the enduring franchise lives on with the new movie Karate Kid: Legends.
Starring Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, Ben Wang, and Joshua Jackson, the film follows the story of Li Fong (Wang), a kung fu prodigy who relocates to New York City and, wouldn’t ya know it, draws the ire of a local karate champion. With the help of Mr. Han (Chan) and Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), Li enters the Five Boroughs karate tournament in hopes of capturing the top prize.

The film will most likely cost $19.99 to rent upon its initial release before eventually settling in at $5.99.

Plus, Karate Kid: Legends will pair nicely with Cobra Kai.
Sony movies tend to drop on Netflix about four months after their theatrical premiere. No official release date has been announced, but we expect Karate Kid: Legends to debut in late September 2025 on Netflix.
