John Cena and Alison Brie star in the upcoming action comedy Freelance, which is coming to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this new flick!
Freelance follows ex-special forces operator Mason Pettits (Cena) as he provides security to a journalist while she interviews a dictator in a foreign country.
However, things go awry when a “military coup breaks out and the three are forced to escape into the jungle,” per the logline.
So, where can you watch Freelance? Is it on Prime Video? What about Netflix?
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
As of now, the only way to watch Freelance is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, Oct. 27. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube and Amazon.
While a digital release date for Freelance has not yet been announced, most movies typically come to digital platforms like Prime Video around 45 days after they’re released in theaters. If Freelance follows the same trajectory, we could be watching it from the comfort of our living rooms by mid-December 2023.
No, Freelance will not be on Max since it’s not a Warner Bros. movie. The platform — previously known as HBO Max — also no longer does direct-to-streaming releases. Instead, they’ve implemented a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the Max release.
No, Freelance will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. While it’s possible the film may come to the streamer at some point in the future, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available on digital platforms in the meantime.
