A new horror film called Down On The Farm may be trending on TikTok, but does the movie actually exist?
In a teaser for the potential new film, ????MR.MOVIE???? (@tmi_7) claims that the film is streaming on Max and that “some people are saying [it] is the scariest movie ever made.”
Featuring a poster topped with the A24 logo, the TikToker cites an alleged “HBO Max algorithm report,” which reportedly reflects that “only three out of every 100 people that put the movie on made it past nine minutes and 36 seconds.”
While he claims to have “watched this movie past nine minutes and 36 seconds,” he says that “most of the people that [he] told to watch this movie said they couldn’t make it past that point” and “were all pissed” that he even recommended the film to them.
According to the TikToker, Down On The Farm “follows real-life events that happened outside of Rosenberg, Texas.”
“In 2022, members of the FDA were doing a routine inspection on a farm there,” he explains. “At first, everything seemed to be normal, but then one of the agents notices that a lot of the animals’ behavior is very peculiar. They start asking questions — questions that they get bizarre answers to. That’s when they realize something was up.”
So, does the Down On The Farm horror movie exist? Is Down On The Farm streaming on HBO Max? Fortunately, Decider’s here to help.
Unfortunately for scary movie fans, Down On The Farm is not a real horror film. The TikTok creator who shared the video promoting the film describes himself as a “parody movie critic” in his bio. The creator even shared another TikTok days later, featuring bloopers of him laughing as he attempted to film the video.
Another indicator may have been the following quote from the late O.J. Simpson on the poster: “Beyond messed up.”
While there is a 2017 film titled Down On The Farm, the movie is animated, and features the following synopsis, per IMDb : “When a bale of hay goes missing on the farm, only one animal can solve this mystery: OINK, the FLYING PIG!”
Max offers a “Horror” tab under “Movies” for those seeking out a good scare. Among the slew of scary titles currently available are Scream, Midsommar, The Strangers, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. For those eager to get out of the house, you can check out Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, which hit theaters on July 12. You can also find out when and where Longlegs will be streaming.
