Don’t say it’s the end! Doctor Odyssey must sail again.
17 episodes and countless injuries later, we have finally arrived at the Season 1 finale of ABC and Ryan Murphy’s deeply unserious (but endlessly entertaining) medical procedural. The Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale show is heading out for one final voyage to round out Season 1 and it’s going to be a nailbiter.
After the penultimate episode saw — SPOILER ALERT — two earthquakes and a tsunami that forced The Odyssey to leave Dr. Max (Jackson) behind on land, the second earthquake ultimately shook the ground so hard that a church collapsed on Max just as he was about to assist Avery (Soo) and Tristan (Teale) with surgery. And against the guidance of their corporate overlords, we know that in tonight’s episode, Captain Robert (Johnson) will take the cruise ship back to shore to try and find Max and anyone else in need of help. But will they make it in time to save him?
Here’s everything you need to know to watch Episode 18, “The Wave, Part 2” of Doctor Odyssey both live and on streaming.

Yes, there is a brand new episode of Doctor Odyssey on tonight. The new episode airs on ABC at 9 p.m. local and drops on Hulu the next day.
If you have cable or a live TV subscription, you can always turn on your TV just before 9 p.m. and tune into ABC for the new episode.
No cable? No time to watch live? No sweat! New episodes of Doctor Odyssey, including “The Wave, Part 2” upload to Hulu the next morning at 3:01 a.m. or 5:00 a.m. You will need to have a subscription, which can be purchased for as low as $9.99 a month (or $99.99 per year) for an ad-supported option. Plans on the higher end go all the way up to $95.99 per month for the Hulu + Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle.
Very little, actually. Aside from the trailer which teases a wild second half of the season finale, ABC has only shared a short description of the episode. “When Max’s transmission goes silent, he and Barry seek refuge in an abandoned church while Tristan takes charge of The Odyssey. With time running out, Avery leads a high-stakes rescue mission to find Max,” it reads.
This week, we are bringing back guest stars who appeared in Episode 17, which operated as the first part of the two-part season finale. Among the list of guest stars are names like Jonathan Bennett, Annie Mumolo, Christopher Gorham, and Jim O’Heir.
You betcha. Here’s a first look at the episode…

Unfortunately, everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure show has NOT been renewed for Season 2 … yet. As of air date, the show is currently on the bubble and could go either way, according to recent reports. Earlier this week, one ABC exec even said that the show’s fate rests in the hands of Murphy, who will ultimately decide if more episodes are warranted.
“I really love Doctor Odyssey, I think it’s a wildly inventive show, and we’re doing everything we can to support it,” Eric Schrier, President of Disney TV Studios, recently said. “That decision ultimately lies with Ryan Murphy, whether Ryan wants to continue to do it, and he feels like there’s stories to tell that he feels confident in.”
The first 17 episodes of Doctor Odyssey are currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+. New episodes release Thursday nights on ABC.
