If you’re looking for a fright, why not spend your Halloweekend watching Conclave, the new Ralph Fiennes movie about a pope with a scandalous secret? After all, nothing is scarier than the Catholic Church.
Directed by German filmmaker Edward Berger—who recently won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film for his 2022 film All Quiet on the Western Front—with a screenplay by Peter Straughan, Conclave is a mystery-thriller based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Robert Harris. Fiennes stars as a Cardinal who must organize the election of the next pope, after the previous pope dies. But in the process, he finds the now-deceased pope was hiding a dark secret that involves his potential successors.
Also starring Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Sergio Castellitto, and Isabella Rossellini, Conclave first premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in August, where it was met with positive reviews from critics. Now you can see the film for yourself.

Conclave will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday, October 25. It will release in theaters in the U.K. on November 29. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Conclave is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Conclave is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that, in the U.S., the film is a Focus Features release. Focus Features is a subsidiary of Universal Studios, and almost all Universal movies go to the Universal-owned streaming platform, Peacock.
You will be able to purchase Conclave on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Conclave on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription. If you want to watch Conclave movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Peacock.
Conclave is not yet streaming on Peacock. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see Conclave streaming on Peacock eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another Focus Features/Universal release, The Bikeriders, was pushed to digital after just over two weeks in theaters, and it began streaming on Peacock on August 9—about a month-and-a-half after opening in theaters, and about one month after releasing on digital.
If Conclave follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital by mid-November 2024, and streaming on Peacock around mid-December 2024.
This is all speculation. If you want to watch the 2024 Conclave movie right away, you can catch the movie in theaters.
