NextImg:Is Austin Butler's 'Caught Stealing' movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

The spirit of ’90s punk is alive in Caught Stealing, the new Austin Butler-led crime thriller opening in movie theaters this weekend.

Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (known for his unsettling, horror-adjacent films like The Whale, Mother!, and Black Swan), with a screenplay written by author Charlie Huston, Caught Stealing is based on the first book in Huston’s thriller trilogy, first published in 2004. Butler stars as Henry “call him Hank” Thompson, a former baseball player who gets roped into a life of crime while bartending in New York’s Lower East Side in the ’90s.

Also starring Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Bad Bunny, and Carol Kane, Caught Stealing is sure to be a nostalgic watch for Gen X former punks—especially with the score written by Rob Simonsen and recorded by the British post-punk band Idles. Read on to find out where to watch the Caught Stealing movie and when we expect to be able to watch the Caught Stealing movie streaming on Netflix.

Caught Stealing will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. nationwide on Friday, August 29. You can find a showing near you via FandangoCaught Stealing is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Caught Stealing is not currently streaming on Netflix or Amazon, because the movie is being released in theaters, only. Right now, the only way to watch Caught Stealing is in a movie theater. That said, because Caught Stealing is a Sony movie, we do expect to see it streaming on Netflix eventually.

You will be able to purchase Caught Stealing on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Caught Stealing on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon. If you want to watch the Caught Stealing movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Netflix.

Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.

Caught Stealing will likely be on Netflix sometime in the fall of 2025. Netflix has a deal with Sony Pictures that gives the streamer the rights to the Sony movies in the “Pay 1” window, meaning the first streaming window after the film’s home media release. Other recent Sony movies, including Paddington in Peru, came to Netflix about four months after opening in theaters.

If Caught Stealing follows this same release pattern, you can expect Caught Stealing to stream on Netflix around late December 2025, aka four months after the movie opened in theaters. In the meantime, you can go watch the movie in theaters.
