Forget Joker 2, because the 2024 movie that my friends can’t wait to see is We Live in Time, aka the new Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield movie.
Directed by John Crowley, with a screenplay by Nick Payne, this new romance from A24 is all but guaranteed to make you cry. It’s a non-linear narrative that tells the love story of Tobias (Garfield) and Almut (Pugh), who must endure the beautiful, heartbreaking, euphoric experience that is being in love.
The film already premiered at Toronto International Film Festival to positive reviews, and the Andrew Garfield girlies are already in a tizzy over his press tour for the film. This one’s for the girls!
But the girls will need to go to a movie theater if they want to see the film ASAP. Unfortunately, We Live in Time is not yet available to stream at home. Read on for all the information about where to watch We Live in Time, and when we expect to see We Live In Time on streaming.
We Live In Time will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. in select theaters on Friday, October 11. (It will open in the U.K. and Ireland on January 1, 2025.) You can find a showing near you via Fandango. We Live In Time is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
We Live In Time is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is an A24 release, and the recent 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, brings all A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the Warner Bros. streaming service Max. (Formerly known as HBO Max.) If you want to watch We Live In Time movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Max.
We Live In Time is not yet streaming on Max. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see We Live In Time streaming on Max eventually—thanks to the A24 and Warner Bros. deal—but we’re not sure when.
The A24 deal is a “Pay-1 deal,” which means A24 movies will start streaming on Max in the “Pay 1 window,” meaning that Max will be the first “TV channel” to pay for the rights to The Front Room, after the film has been released on digital and home media. One recent A24 title, Love Lies Bleeding, began streaming on Max about four-and-a-half months after its release in theaters, and about three months after its release on digital. If We Live In Time follows a similar release strategy, you’ll see We Live In Time streaming on Max around late February or early March 2025. That said, perhaps the movie will come to streaming sooner, to capitalize on awards season.
