9-1-1

9-1-1‘s Season 7 finale aired on ABC in May, but that doesn’t mean the network is done spending Thursday nights with the 118 just yet…

In somewhat of a surprise, if you turn on ABC tonight, Thursday, June 20, an episodes of 9-1-1 will be on again! Yes, really! Dreams do come true! Sort of…

Curious if 9-1-1 is new tonight? When 9-1-1 Season 8 is expected to premiere? And what can you expect to watch if you tune into ABC’s 9-1-1 mini marathon tonight?

We’ve got answers!

Here’s everything to know about ABC’s 9-1-1 episodes airing Thursday, June 20 — including titles, premiere times, and episode descriptions. Plus, we’ve got 9-1-1 Season 8 teases from stars Peter Krause and Ryan Guzman that you won’t want to miss.

As noted above, yes! 9-1-1 is airing on ABC tonight. But the episodes aren’t new Season 8 installments. ABC is just running a mini 9-1-1 marathon to remind viewers that “Thursday on ABC is the place to be for high-stakes drama, action, and more.”

While you might assume ABC is airing an encore of Season 7 episodes following last month’s finale, per the ABC press site, three episodes from Season 6 are being rebroadcast back to back, despite them not being back to back episodes in the season. Interesting…

Here’s a lineup of which episodes you can expect to see and what times they’ll air on the network tonight, Thursday, June 20:

So when does 9-1-1 return with new episodes on ABC? Though 9-1-1 Season 8 doesn’t have a set premiere date yet, we do know it’s returning to ABC in 2024 with new episodes.

The network recently announced its Fall 2024-2025 Primetime TV Schedule, revealing that 9-1-1 will continue to air on Thursdays from 8:00 p.m. ET to 9:00 p.m. ET ahead of Ryan Murphy’s new ABC series Doctor Odyssey at 9:00 p.m. ET. Stay tuned for more details. Until then, here’s what we know about Season 8 so far…

As noted in a previous piece, 9-1-1‘s Ryan Guzman and Peter Krause spoke to Decider ahead of Season 7’s finale and took some time to tease Season 8.

Based on the Season 7 finale cliffhanger, we can assume that a large part of Season 7 will focus on the 118 adjusting to their new leader, Captain Gerrard (Brian Thompson), and presumably see Bobby trying to get his old job back.

“It was a bit of a storytelling leap,” Krause told Decider over Zoom when asked about Captain Gerrard taking control of the 118. “I’m not sure exactly what Tim [Minear] has planned. But I’m sure it’s not going to be an immediately easy road for Bobby to regain the captainship of the 118. I have faith that he will. But I’m not sure I’m not sure exactly what he’s got got in store.”

As for his hopes for Bobby and Athena, Krause said he wants to see a continuation of Bathena’s honeymoon — on land, this time. “I would like to see Athena and Bobby go on an RV trip. I just feel like after The Poseidon Adventure episodes that there’s still some honeymoon that they haven’t completed yet. And I think that somehow on an RV trip, what could go wrong?” Krause laughed. According to Krause, however, “Athena is still on the case about how their house burned down. So I think that that is probably fuel for the beginning of Season 8.”

During Decider’s finale interview with Ryan Guzman, the 9-1-1 actor also shared his predictions and hopes for the future of Eddie, Christopher, and the 118. With Christopher gone, “That leaves Eddie in new territory, which can be scary on both spectrums of life,” Guzman said. “Is he going to go back into the craziness of beating his walls and going nuts and losing himself? Or is he going to choose something that we’ve never seen in these past seven seasons? My hope is the latter, obviously. But if the first one comes, that’ll be interesting as an actor.”

Regarding Eddie’s connection to Kim (and Shannon), the actor said he hopes for “some premonitions of Shannon or Kim coming back into his life, saying, “I don’t know if we’re done with her yet. But if we are done with her, then I think Eddie is going to have a very rough Season 8.”

Guzman also teased more about Eddie’s relationship with religion and possible scenes with his family (the long lost sisters!) but as for the 118, he said, “We know Gerrard is the worst version of human. So I think Season 8 is, to say the least, going to be difficult navigating, because there won’t be that open family atmosphere. I won’t be coming to Cap for my problems. It’ll be a handle it on your own situation. So that might actually propel Eddie to start to handle these issues by himself again and be seeking out Cap in a way that he never has before. It’s gonna be a lot of variables now with Gerrard, and I think it changes the whole scope of what the 118 is.”
