ABC’s hit first responder drama 9-1-1 really just killed off one of its main characters and then left fans hanging for a week.
Not cool, Tim Minear. NOT cool.
When the agonizing two-part 9-1-1: Contagion wrapped in Season 8, Episode 15, Athena (Angela Bassett) and Buck (Oliver Stark) successfully retrieved the antiviral in time to save Chimney (Kenneth Choi) from the brink of death. Before the end credits rolled, they saved Chim, Ravi (Anirudh Pisharody), and Hen (Aisha Hinds) from the bio lab. But in a twist, Bobby (Peter Krause) locked himself inside and revealed he was exposed to the virus. Since there was only one anti-viral available, he explained he sacrificed his own life to save Chimney. BRB, CRYING!
After Bobby’s heart-wrenching goodbye to Buck, Athena, and fans, Deadline released a pre-written letter in which Krause thanked his fans and colleagues for the “wild ride.” 9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear confirmed Bobby’s death and explained why he made the decision. Krause’s co-stars Angela Bassett and Kenneth Choi spoke about how devastated they were by his departure from the show. And after all that, diehard, eagle-eyed 9-1-1 fans still have reason to believe this might not be the end for Bobby Nash. One can only hope!
When 9-1-1 returns, we’ll likely see Cap’s funeral and the toll that his death takes on those he left behind. Crucially, we’ll also learn if Krause and Bobby are truly gone for good.
