NextImg:Iowa vs. Michigan odds, prediction: Bet on Caitlin Clark’s scoring Thursday

Last Sunday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s college basketball squad stopped Caitlin Clark and the No. 4 Iowa Hawkeyes in their tracks.

Nebraska overcame a late 14-point deficit by outscoring Iowa 27-10 in the final period, hitting a game-winning 3-pointer with 30 seconds remaining, and holding the nation’s leading scorer, Clark, to zero fourth-quarter points for the first time in her storied career.

It was the first time in four years that the Cornhuskers beat the Hawkeyes, and it held Clark eight points short of Kelsey Plum’s all-time scoring record.

But this all puts the Hawkeyes in a prime bounce-back spot at home Thursday, with their leading scorer sure to put up a record-breaking performance while getting her team back on track.

Michigan is a middling women’s college hoops team.

The Wolverines are 16-9 overall and 7-6 in Big Ten play with a top-20 scoring defense nationally (61.3 points per game allowed).

But they’ve also struggled mightily on the road, posting a 4-4 record in true road games with a loss to Toledo and a porous 99.1 defensive rating.

Behind Clark, Iowa boasts the nation’s best offense (121.3 offensive rating).

And in four games against Michigan, Clark has averaged 35 points per game on obscene shooting percentage splits of 56/55/90.

I expect Clark and the Hawkeyes to obliterate a questionable Michigan road defense in a great situational spot with historic motivation on their side.
