NextImg:Interest in Vikings’ Danielle Hunter heats up ahead of NFL trade deadline

The Vikings began their season in a complex situation with Danielle Hunter, but as the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline inches closer, it seems more likely the two might part ways.

Teams have called the Vikings expressing interest in trading for the defensive end, who is one of the top players to possibly be moved at the end of the month, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport.

Hunter, 28, has already tallied a league-high eight sacks through six games this season, along with 11 tackles for loss.

He has a year remaining on his contract, which makes him more attractive to interested teams.

In 2018, Hunter signed a 5-year, $72 million contract with the Vikings, including a $15 million signing bonus and $40 million guaranteed, according to Spotrac.

He likely isn’t the only big name that might be traded.

Jerry Jeudy, on the 1-5 Denver Broncos, expressed frustration with his performance and the struggling team, and that could lead to him being moved at the deadline.

“It’s always frustrating when you are losing. Nobody wants to lose, you feel me?” Jeudy told reporters. “Losing is the worst possible thing that can happen. … I know what I can do, and I know what I’m capable of. So, trade me or not trade me, it don’t matter because at the end of the day I’m going to still be me.”

Head coach Sean Payton doesn’t seem to be interested in trading away big talent if they have commitments beyond 2023, but Jeudy has been in the trade conversation in the offseason and if the Broncos continue their struggle, a trade seems more likely.

The Panthers are in a similar situation with the interest in not trading away big key players for their future but are open to deals for players such as wide receiver Terrace Marshall and cornerback Donte Jackson, per ESPN.

They also may have traded safety Jeremy Chinn before he suffered an injury.
