The 2025 Ryder Cup was personal for Colin Jost.
The “Saturday Night Live” comedian, who grew up on Staten Island, spent a lot of time as a kid at Bethpage Black, where he camped out in a van until the course opened.
While speaking with The Post at Bethpage Black, Jost explained that he had numerous pinch-me moments this year as he partnered with Giants legend Eli Manning in the Celebrity Ryder Cup Match — where the pair helped the American stars defeat the Europeans celebs, 25-19, on Wednesday.
“To be honest, I screenshotted a New York Post headline [about his victory with Manning in the celebrity match] and I was like, ‘This is the best and perhaps the only sports accomplishment of my life.’ And I was kind of taking it in and I was like, ‘This is such a cool moment,'” Jost said while at the T-Mobile lounge at Bethpage Black.
“I grew up on Staten Island and my friend and I camped out at Bethpage to be the first out on the course at 5:45 in the morning when we were kids. It’s such a special course, and also such a had course, to get to play at.
“I’m also a big Giants fan, so Eli — this is somehow true. I’ve been writing this stuff for 20 years [on “SNL”], and the only host I’ve ever asked for their autograph was Eli. The host photo is him lying on a bed of footballs with his hands behind his head and he just signed it, ‘To Colin, from Eli’ and it looks almost romantic. It’s such a funny photo and it’s the only one I’ve ever asked for because I’m such a Giants fan.”
Jost — who hosted the Ryder Cup live pregame show, “T-Mobile Breakfast at Bethpage” that broadcasted straight from the first tee with celebrity guests — praised Manning for being a “captain” figure for their team.
“So to get to play with him — even when he tossed me a golf ball and I caught it, I was like, ‘Ah I’m a wide receiver,'”Jost, who’s married to actress Scarlett Johansson, joked.
“[Manning] played great. He was such a great partner… a calm demeanor also just happy to be there. We lucked out, it was a great win. I felt nice to do a very small thing for America. The smallest contribution for America winning the fake Ryder Cup.”
Jost and Manning defeated former Bulls star Toni Kukoc and Brooklyn Beckham, 7.5-3.5.
After that, Jost hit the set of the two-hour live stream show by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions to bring comedy and entertainment to the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Jost and Omaha producers said to think of it as a crossover between “College Gameday” and the “ManningCast,” and backed by T-Mobile 5G technology.
Jost brought his witty charm to the Ryder Cup desk and shined alongside celebrities including Bobby Flay, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), Marcello Hernandez, and Richard Kind — with comedian and Bravo star Hannah Berner serving as a special correspondent.
