A inmate escaped from a Brooklyn hospital and was still on the loose Thursday — just one day after he was busted on petit larceny and other charges, cops said.

Gilberto Sanchez, 50, was receiving treatment at the Brooklyn Hospital Center in Downtown Brooklyn around 2 p.m. Thursday when he ran off, police said.&nbsp;

Sanchez, who was nowhere to be found hours later, is described as around 5-foot-6 and weighing about 160 pounds, authorities said.&nbsp;

He was last seen wearing black sweatpants, a white shirt, a blue and black jacket and yellow and black sneakers.

Sanchez was initially cuffed around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for petit larceny, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration, authorities said.&nbsp;

It was not immediately clear how he managed to make the escape, or why he required medical care.
