While recovering from surgery and embroiled in a legal dispute with ex-girlfriend Erica Herman, Tiger Woods officially won’t participate in golf’s next major.

Woods was not on the full field list for next week’s PGA Championship, the golf major’s organizers said on Wednesday, as the 15-time major champion continues to recover from an ankle surgery.

Woods, who withdrew from the Masters midway through last month’s tournament due to injury, underwent fusion surgery on a bone in his ankle to address his post-traumatic arthritis from a previous talus bone fracture.

The 47-year-old has limited his participation in events following a 2021 car crash, which required his leg to be rebuilt. He has also had multiple knee and back operations.

Woods has expressed a desire to play in all the majors, but after hobbling through the third round of the Masters, the rest of his 2023 season is up in the air.

The PGA Championship, the year’s second major, takes place from May 18-21 in Rochester, New York.

Woods has won the tournament four times, his last victory coming in 2007.

The next major after the PGA Championship is the U.S. Open from June 15-18.

Woods, who is three behind Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major wins, last won a major at the 2019 Masters.

Herman, 38, is trying to nullify a non-disclosure agreement she signed when she started dating Woods in August 2017, accusing the golfer of sexual harassment.

Herman filed a lawsuit in October against a trust for Woods’ residence seeking $30 million in damages, claiming she was forced to leave his Florida home.

Benjamin Hobas, Herman’s lawyer, claimed Woods “tricked her into leaving her home, locked her out, took her cash, pets, and personal possessions, and tried to strong-arm her into signing a different NDA.”
