NextImg:In a city devoid of NFL wins, modesty plays second fiddle to acting like a jerk

Their wish is my command. They want extra attention for acting like jerks? Jerks on teams that are a total of 0-6, no less? They got it.

1) Jets special-teamer Qwan’tez Stiggers. Sunday, with the Jets down 13-6 to the Bucs, Stiggers covered a punt. Unimpeded, he tackled the returner the moment he caught the ball.

Stiggers then rose and performed a 25-yard celebration-of-me sprint that didn’t end until he ran out of room in the end zone. I don’t know what was going through his mind, but he sure looked like a jerk.

2) Cam Skattebo, the Giants’ rookie head-first fullback/battering ram, had just scored vs. the Chiefs when he apparently realized he’d shorted himself on me-first TV attention. So, despite the delay, Skattebo performed a just-made-it-flip that appeared more dangerous than acrobatic, and more rehearsed than spontaneous.
