A paranormal investigator has claimed that a doll played spooky games with her.
Yvonne Hydes from Glasgow, Scotland, said was gifted a doll during a ghost investigation and has been plagued by strange happenings ever since, The Mirror reported.
Hydes works for a company called The Scottish Ghost Company, which has “80 years of experience in the field of paranormal research and ghost tours,” according to their website.
Ever since taking the doll home, Hydes said she’s heard loud knocking and footsteps, and she said objects in her home are mysteriously moving from place to place.
She believes the doll — which she calls Agnes and was received during an investigation at Easterhouse’s Provan Hall — is haunted.
“One of the member’s friends had brought the doll to him after being on holiday in the north of England. They bought it from a charity shop. A lot of people hand in things like that to us,” she told The Mirror.
“Most of the dolls I do have are all hand-me-downs, so they don’t bother me at all, but that night in Provan Hall, I was sat in the base room and she made me feel uncomfortable,” she continued.
A purported psychic medium she works with also felt weird energy coming from the doll, she claimed.
“David, who works as a medium, absolutely hates her. I brought it home and he said I should keep it in the garage, and that made me feel uneasy. I brought her into the house and she sat in the spare room,” she said.
Since taking home Agnes, her dog began barking at the toy and shaking in fear, and electrical items in her home started breaking, she claimed.
Just days after bringing home the toy, she said she heard a loud knock at her door. She said she checked her Ring doorbell, but it didn’t catch any activity.
“Everything was fine for a few days, but then I started to notice some knocking. My family and I heard a really loud knock to the point we jumped up and the dog was going mental, but no one was at the door,” she recalled.
“We checked the Ring doorbell and no one was there. My husband doesn’t believe in anything paranormal but even he heard it. The knocking continued but it started to come from above and it continued for a few days before stopping. I also heard footsteps of something walking fast across my landing,” she added.
Then things got even weirder.
“Suddenly my cocker spaniel took a dislike to the doll being in the room. It started barking at the doll and shaking. When I spoke to people about her, I was whispering as if she could hear me. One day I came downstairs and saw one of my really heavy lamps sitting in the middle of the living room. My son came in and I asked if he’d been up, but he hadn’t,” she explained.
“More objects were being moved each morning, and wee electrical things started to happen. We have an electrical hoover that is programmed to come out at 10:30 p.m. each night. I was turning off the lights one morning and it shot out and did its own thing. I looked on the website and it hadn’t been registered as being active at that time,” Hydes continued.
Luckily for Hydes, her friend David decided to take the “haunted” doll out of her hands.
“David took her home reluctantly and sat her on a seat beside his piano,” she said.
Hydes isn’t the only paranormal investigator who’s been toyed with by a haunted doll.
Earlier this year, Kalani Smith, 25, and a Canadian YouTuber known as Exploring with Josh said their visit to a notoriously haunted doll named Robert the Doll led to a series of unfortunate events.
Josh claimed that since shooting the video of the doll, he has suffered bad luck that included a canceled flight, lost baggage, and inflammation and pain in his eye.
“Many of the people that have come here and looked into Robert’s eyes have experienced car troubles, marriage troubles, and some people have even gotten cancer,” Smith claimed in a TikTok last month that has scared up 36,000 views.
The doll is said to be the inspiration for Chucky in the classic horror film “Child’s Play.”
