Ike Barinholtz‘s dad Alan Barinholtz found fame later in life when he played Judge Alan Rosen in the 2023 Prime Video series Jury Duty. The actor later cast his father as the family attorney in Netflix’s Running Point, where got to kiss lead star Kate Hudson.

On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Ike told host Drew Barrymore how his father’s kiss with Hudson came to be.

“We wanted him to be very tactile and be one of those old guys who always kind of grabs your hand and then he’d give me a kiss on the top of the head,” he began.

“So we’re doing these takes. And Kate Hudson was like, ‘Hey, on this next take, he should kiss me on the lips. It would be so funny.’ And she was right, it would be hilarious,” Ike continued. “So I said to my dad, ‘Hey, on the next take, kiss Kate.’ He says, ‘I can’t do that. I can’t do that. I don’t know her and I don’t think she’s gonna want that.’ I go, ‘Dad, it was her idea.’ He goes, ‘Oh. OK.’”

Alan did end up smooching Hudson — and according to his son, it’s “all he talks about” now.

“We’ll be at a restaurant and the waiter will be like, ‘Have you decided?’ And he’ll be like, ‘Yeah, I’ll have the greek salad. I kissed Kate Hudson,'” Ike said. “So he’s living his best life.”

He and Ike also became the first father-son duo to win Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in an August 2024 episode of the game show. They donated their $1 million prize to the ASL program at Los Encinos School.
