Has Law & Order: SVU “started to go woke”? Well, Ice-T is not giving the claim a second thought.
According to Variety, an X user asked the actor — who plays Detective Odafin ‘Fin’ Tutuola — on Tuesday (Aug. 27) if they have written the show “back to normal yet.”
“It started to go woke,” they added.
In response, Ice-T fired back, “What the F is Woke? lol Like I give a Fuck.”
Per TheWrap, the critic was responding to Ice-T’s post from Aug. 1, in which he shared a picture from the SVU set.
“Seems like everyone is at the OLYMPICS…. I’m at Work. SVU on location. Season26,” he captioned the picture.
He also addressed another X user, who provided their own definition of “woke” as “tearing down my John Wayne statues and forcing me to erect a Spider-Man fountain that sprays gay beer on my lawn that turns into astroturf.”
“That sounds Dope… F John Wayne,” he replied.
Shortly after, Ice-T posted the following: “I stay outta Political shit. Like I said before… The Blue Vs The Red… It’s GangBangin to me.”
SVU fans are well aware that Tutuola was shot in the May Season 25 finale, but Ice-T himself was not even aware of his character’s finale fate until he heard from his cast mates.
“I was reading the pages. I didn’t know. So I’m here in the script, and everybody’s like, ‘You’re getting shot!’ I’m like, ‘What?’ That could be BAD,” he recalled to People.
Law & Order: SVU returns to NBC for Season 26 on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. Seasons 1-25 are streaming on Peacock.
