NextImg:I was charged nearly $200 by McDonald’s because of glitch: ‘Shocked’

The snafu made her grimace.

A McDonald’s customer in England was flabbergasted when a card reader error cost her nearly $200, The Sun reports.

Nicole Jackson said she was charged about $191 recently after an East London restaurant was affected by a technical glitch that lasted almost two months.

In a statement published by The Sun, McDonald’s said the payment issue — which reportedly impacted customers from April 26 to June 19 — “meant customers using that card reader were not charged at the time.”

“We have been processing these payments over the last two weeks,” the company added.

Furious at the de facto hamburglars, Jackson took her beef online, writing, “I’ve had [$191] taken. It’s absolutely disgusting.”

Another customer, Alexis Johnson, 42, was stunned to find her bank account had a negative balance after being charged about $43 last week.

Johnson was initially concerned that she was a victim of fraud, but soon discovered it was for Big Macs and Happy Meals her family devoured on June 2.

Her husband, Ricky, was charged about $62 for transactions made in May and June.

“I was shocked,” said Johnson, an HR operations manager and mother of three.

“I thought I’d been charged at the time, as other people would have, so it’s really poor from McDonald’s. Being charged months later can have a bad impact on people who are hard-up.”

The news follows backlash for the Golden Arches raising prices at certain locations. A medium Big Mac combo meal now fetches for $18 in Darien, Conn., as part of the “strategic menu price increases.”

Other customers are taking to social media to lament the clown prices — like one TikToker who called their $16 McDonald’s meal “crazy.”
