It can be hard to stand out on a dating app — but one woman has found a pitch-perfect way to get the attention of potential paramours.
When Sabrina Duda, 27, matches with men on Hinge, rather than a simple reply, she serenades them with personalized love songs.
The singing singleton, who hails from Canada, told Caters that she started the unorthodox dating tactic about a year ago after saying some men on the app were “not matching her vibe.”
“I remember being interested in someone in the past and I thought to myself, ‘How could I pique this guy’s interest? What will make me stand out?'” Duda explained. “Being a musician, music flows so naturally so my first instinct was to write them a song.”
“I like to also think I’m pretty funny sometimes,” she added. “So I thought, why not showcase my talent and humor at the same time?”
Duda creates personalized lyrics and sets them to the beat of popular songs by artists such as Eminem, Nicki Minaj and Carley Rae Jepsen. She then sends her creations in voice messages to men on the dating app.
“I love this app/ but you should know I don’t want any crap,” Duda croons in one song. “I’m looking for my future hot husband/ to love me without any judgment.”
Duda has started sharing some of her songs with a wider audience on TikTok, and several of the ditties have gone viral.
One song, sent to a man named Ben, has even clocked up more than 5 million views, turning Duda into a social media star.
However, she insists that she crafts her songs in the quest for long-lasting love — not for fleeting viral fame.
“Most of my songs state my intention of looking for a husband,” she stated. “Do I write them seriously? Yes, because I truly have the intention of finding a partner.”
Duda says the personalized songs have proved extremely helpful with online dating.
“A majority of the time, it is a great ice breaker and leads to further communication or dates,” she explained. “One of them even led to a date where we ended up looking into each other’s eyes and singing to each other, in that moment, it felt like a movie!”
If potential partners don’t enjoy the songs, Duda says she simply waves them goodbye.
“Then you get the guys that instantly un-match me or provide such a dry response that I just know it’s not for me, and that’s okay. The song ends up becoming a filter, sifting the guys that aren’t meant for me right out of my life!” she said.
“Based on their response, it gives me an idea of whether it is something I want to pursue further, whether they understand and mesh with my personality or humor. I am not interested in hookups.”
And while Duda has not yet found lasting love, she has amassed an army of fans who love her creative and playful approach to online dating.
“Hinge should use these as an advert,” one TikTok user cheered after hearing one of her songs.
Meanwhile, one lovestruck man chimed in saying he would be overcome after being serenaded by the singer-songwriter.
“I would ask her to marry me right then and there,” he declared.
