NextImg:I live in an NYC closet — here’s what I use from Amazon’s sale to make it livable

No, I’m not being hyperbolic. Sometimes to live in your ideal neighborhood in your dream city at a price you can afford means making some sacrifices — and I gave up bedroom space. Not only that, but I don’t have a closet either, so my 10-square-foot room needed to be both my bedroom and wardrobe.

Making this happen took months of creative planning and a ton of help from Amazon. Now, thanks to Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, pretty much everything I used to transform my tiny room into a livable, enjoyable, functional space is on sale.

It also behooves me to note that I have a lot of stuff. As a near-thirty-year-old who spent years as a travel editor, I’ve collected things over time that I either need or can’t seem to part ways with, from my collection of thrifted designer heels to all the scarves, sweaters, baskets, and more that I’ve acquired from around the world. How could I really achieve a livable space with so little space?

First things first: Get as much stuff up off the floor as possible.

It started with a wall-mounted clothing rack. Then came all the shoe organizers — yes, multiple. Following this, I scored a tall and slim bookshelf from Goodwill that I’ve since filled with woven baskets from Amazon for storage of delicates, socks, and miscellaneous categories like “to be tailored” and “doesn’t have a home yet.”

All this to say, I think I’ve figured it out. Whether you’re looking for a way to make your tiny space livable or simply on the prowl for organization solutions, you’re in the right place.
