NextImg:I don’t like humans — I’ll modify myself until I don’t get recognized as one

Danny Englert’s obsession is out of this world — literally.

The 24-year-old has spent eight years attempting to “dehumanize” themselves to the point where horrified strangers scream “devil!” at them on the streets.

More than $2,700 later, Englert — who also goes by the self-chosen moniker “Possession” — is covered in tattoos and piercings. The extreme skin art aficionado has even modified body parts to be more goblin-esque, including transdermal implants meant to resemble horns and pointed ears and teeth.

“I don’t like humans and what they do to each other and the world they live in,” the Germany native told Jam Press. “I want to modify myself until I don’t get recognized as human.”

Englert got their first piercing at 16, and has since covered themselves in body art, but much of their ink is admittedly unfinished due to “the chaotic nature” of their project, which they consider their “life’s work.”

Unlike many increasingly high-profile practitioners, Englert performs most of the modifications themselves — save for the implants – or enlists their friends’ help, which has efficiently cut costs.

“I’ve been learning body modifying for quite some time now and am the one my friends come to for piercings or scarifications, and small body mods,” they told the outlet.

“I think my purpose is to make the people around me and myself look more ‘edgy.'”

Although family members, who Englert said doesn’t “like it that much,” is supportive, strangers can be cruel, yelling that they look like the “devil” or appear “emo.”

Typically, it’s “not a big deal,” but Englert recalled one physical altercation with a group of strangers that resulted in the loss of one of their horns.

“Once there were three guys attacking a friend and me on our way home just for looking different and I lost one of my horns because of it,” they said.

That night, Englert and their friend were coming home from the club when “some guys were calling names to us.”

“They ran over and started punching and kicking us,” Englert said, noting that because they aren’t “the strongest,” neither of them could “do much.”

“One of my transdermal implants got so damaged that part of the plate came out my head and I had to get it removed, but besides that we were okay,” they said.

Such violent altercations aren’t a deterrent for Englert, though, who said it “just adds to the list of reasons to dislike the human race.”

“I don’t really care what others think and say about my look because I do it for myself,” said Englert, who is planning to have their horns re-implanted.

“I am really hyped to see where this project will take me and how long it will take to finish it.”
