If you’ve ever been horrified by the idea of crumbs sticking to your bare feet, you’re not alone. I am a member of that club and enjoy a frolic through the living room without debris attached. Call me crazy, but I think you deserve a dirt-free zone, too.
As a shopping writer, I spend my office hours testing vacuums and making notes of what stood out and what failed. Trust me when I say that nothing could have prepared me for the hundreds of dollars I dropped on my new favorite.
What could win such a worthy title? Meet the Miele Triflex HX2 Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner, a cordless vacuum worth the investment.
In today’s economy, where products are mass-produced and tossed out the next year, it’s refreshing to find a brand that creates quality built to last for years.
Before this, I had always been loyal to Dyson, and we’ve loved reviewing them. I purchased their V8 model, which served me well until it didn’t. After year three, it started pushing dirt around instead of picking it up, and it never once sucked up dirt like the Miele after one pass.
Founded in 1899, Miele designed high-end appliances and vacuums. Until I became a professional shopping tester, I didn’t even know Miele made vacuums (I know, shame on me), but wow, I am glad that mistake has been corrected.
The vacuum has a VARTA Li-ion battery, which sets it apart from other vacs on the market.
It gives the Triflex an increased run time, and in the event it dies, it can be swapped out for a new one instead of replacing the entire vacuum.
This makes Miele’s design incredibly cost-effective in the long run. In fact, my friend has been using hers for 15 years (gifted as a wedding present), and it still sucks up dirt like new.
Another reason the Miele Triflex HX2 is superior to the Dyson is that it’s much more flexible. When testing it, I found that it was easier to pass it under furniture without breaking my arm or having to get on my hands and knees.
The Miele Triflex HX2 is said to have a 60-minute run time on a single charge. When I tested, I found that the battery lasted closer to 20 to 30 minutes on Max mode when deep cleaning. While its Eco mode is where the full-hour feature is meant to shine, I still found this a con, but not in comparison to Dyson.
The Dyson V8, which is supposed to run 40 minutes on a single charge, eked out after 15 minutes of cleaning my tiny apartment. It couldn’t keep up with Miele’s suction power, either, which is the major reason I tossed it.
The overall design of the Miele is also better. Using its 3-in-1 arm, I easily moved under chairs and between the oven and the floor. It will make life easier for less flexible people, reaching those spots other vacuums can’t touch.
The Triflex HX2 uses a canister that doesn’t require any bags, which is great for those of us who don’t want to keep buying refills and adding more waste to our landfills. However, it’s not as simple as a quick dump. Twisting open the canister and releasing the dirt requires a bit of muscle. It’s not a huge issue, but something to consider. Many customers complain that it’s not intuitive to use, so I made a short video showing how to release the dirt.
The canister features a reusable HEPA filter, capturing dust particles up to 99.999%.
Plus, the HEPA Lifetime Filter pops out easily for cleaning. If you or someone in your family is prone to allergies, this is a massive plus.
Now, let’s talk noise. When the canister is placed at the top of the vacuum, the sound is quieter than my old Dyson V8. But when I shifted the canister to the base, the vacuum got a lot louder, reverberating off the floor. Fortunately, that was fixed with placement.
Pros:
Cons:
The Miele Triflex HX2 can function as either a stick or handheld vacuum by simply unclipping the attachments, which come off easily. There are three different modes: Min. Eco, and Max. It’s incredibly easy to use, lightweight, and maneuvers under furniture with impressive flexibility, making it the best Miele vacuum I’ve reviewed.
Switching from hard floors to carpets? You’ll hear the vacuum shift into a deeper suction mode, thanks to its extra-wide electro brush that goes into overdrive. Designed specifically for carpets, it pulls dirt out from the root. And if you thought that was neat, the Digital Efficiency Motor delivers 60% more power than previous Miele models.
What’s included: Upholstery, crevice and dusting attachments, wall mount, and power supply unit. Weight: 13.52 pounds | Charging Time: 240 minutes | Run Time: One hour | Noise: 78 decibels | Color: 1
The Miele Triflex HX2 is, hands down, the best cordless vacuum I’ve used. It’s not perfect, but its powerful suction, ease of use, and versatility make it a top contender in the cordless vacuum market. Sure, the battery could last a little longer on high power, and the noise could be quieter, but if you’re serious about cleaning, this vacuum is the real deal.
