NextImg:I clean potatoes in the dishwasher — but haters call it nasty

Potatoes can be cooked in a multitude of ways whether you like them fried, smashed, peeled or baked — but people are divided over involving the dishwasher in the process.

TikToker @bengiusd went viral after sharing how his family cleans their potatoes, opting to toss them in the machine rather than handwashing each spud individually.

The man shows two women in the kitchen loading the dishwasher full of potatoes.

When he asked them what they were doing, they claimed it was “grandma’s best Thanksgiving secret.”

They insisted that using the dishwasher was the fastest way to clean a large batch of potatoes in preparation for a big feast like Thanksgiving.

The women explained that while they normally clean potato skins in a bowl of water, that process only allows them to clean several potatoes at a time.

But loading the dishwasher with potatoes allowed them to clean three bags worth at once.

“It’s super fast,” the younger woman said as she set the dishwasher to rinse only with no soap in the machine in a follow-up TikTok video.

After the four-minute cycle was completed, the women opened the dishwasher to show off their quickly cleaned potatoes ready to be cooked into a side dish.

The video went viral with 3.2 million views and hundreds of comments as people strongly disapproved of the hack.

“Quickest way to make chemical-flavoured mashed potato,” @geoffybubblesbonbon joked.

“Detergent rests everywhere giving the whole family intestinal permeability. Great job,” @atenembaum quipped.

“This fr why I don’t eat at other folks houses,” @schtekman said.

“Nah fam I’m good,” @lucas10101010101 simply stated.

And this isn’t the only dishwasher hack blowing minds online at the moment.

A TikToker has gone viral after sharing a hack that allows people to place tall wine glasses in the top drawer of their dishwasher.

The clip begins with archival footage that the content creator found on the internet. It shows an anonymous person trying to place a stemmed wine glass into the top drawer of their washer.

At first, the glass is too tall to fit and stops the dishwasher door from fully closing.

However, the person solves the problem by flipping a switch on the inside of the rack that lowers it by several inches.

This newly adjusted height allows the large glass to fit in the top drawer and the dishwasher door to close properly.

Hundreds of viewers were floored by the feature and expressed their enthusiasm in the comments section beneath the video.
