The Carolina Hurricanes didn’t want the New Jersey Devils to fuhgeddaboudit.
After putting the finishing touches on their five-game Eastern Conference semifinal series victory with a 3-2 overtime win in Carolina, the Canes’ social media accounts sent out a video trolling the Devils, featuring cameos from famous New Jerseyans congratulating the team on their victory.
Teresa Giudice of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” fame, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from “Jersey Shore,” Federico Castelluccio from “The Sopranos” and a number of other well-known Jersey-adjacent celebrities all appeared in the Cameo video, celebrating the demise of their state’s hockey team.
“Great round! Best of luck in your quest for the Cup,” Guidice said in the video while smiling.
“Good luck in the future. With love, from the Jersey Shore,” Sorrentino said.
“I think you’re going to win,” Castelluccio added at the end of the video.
The upstart Devils, who weren’t expected to be contenders at the start of the season, had a surprising 2022-23 run, knocking off the rival Rangers in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
However, they were soundly beaten by Carolina in the second round, with the Hurricanes winning three of the four games by four or more goals.
New Jersey held a 2-1 lead during the second period of Game 5 Thursday night, but after a Brent Burns goal tied the game and eventually sent it to overtime, former Ranger Jesper Fast deflected in an overtime winner to send the Devils home for good.
The social media team clearly had their fun with the loss.
Carolina will now move on to face the winner of the Florida Panthers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs series in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Panthers lead the series 3-1 and will look to close out the Leafs on Friday night.
