State police have identified human remains discovered along the Long Island waterfront as a missing 20-year-old man, and have ruled his death a homicide.
Yoneli Abimael Ramoso Moreno, of Brentwood, whose remains were found Monday at Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island’s North Shore, was killed “recently,” troopers said.
“Ramos Moreno was found by parkgoers off a trail at the eastern end of Sunken Meadow State Park,” state police said in a press release this week.
“The death of Ramos Moreno is being investigated as a homicide and it’s been established that his death occurred recently,” according to the release.
The grisly discovery is about 30 miles from Gilgo Beach, where police are investigating more than 10 sets of human remains found between late 2010 and early 2011.
Manhattan architect Rex Heuermann, 59, was charged in July with murder stemming from three of the bodies, among the missing sex workers known as the “Gilgo Four.”
Heuermann is the prime suspect in the death of a fourth escort found along the marshy shorefront.

Cops have not linked Ramos Moreno with the Gilgo Beach bodies found along the South Shore.
Anyone with information about Ramos Monreno’s disappearance and death is urged to call state police at 631-756-3300.
