NextImg:Hulk Hogan teases WWE Royal Rumble return: ‘I might have one left in me’

Hulkamania may run wild again.

WWE tweeted an interesting video Monday night featuring wrestling icon Hulk Hogan teasing a potential return this Saturday at the Royal Rumble.

“The wild card factor … You never know who’s going to show up … You never know,” Hogan said while pointing at himself, “I might have one left in me.”

Everything in pro wrestling needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s certainly notable that WWE chose to release this video five days ahead of the Royal Rumble.

Perhaps this video is nothing more than some solid marketing to build buzz before the event.

Maybe it’s to gauge potential reaction should WWE want to insert Hogan into the event.

No matter the reason, fans may now be watching to see if Hogan returns to the ring at Tropicana Field.

The Royal Rumble, a 30-person, over-the-top battle royale, is one of the promotion’s top events and always filled with returning stars.

Hogan, arguably the most-famous wrestler of all-time, would qualify as perhaps the greatest surprise entrant in the event’s history.

Professional wrestling would not be what it is today without the 70-year-old Hogan, who starred for both WWE (then WWF) and WCW.

Hogan won the third and fourth Royal Rumbles in 1990 and 1991, becoming the first wrestler to repeat as the victory.

The Royal Rumble has since become the event that helps set up one of the two heavyweight championship matches at WrestleMania, and often the main event.

CM Punk, who just returned, is the betting favorite for the event, according to BetMGM.

Hogan, who won six WWE championships, last wrestled for the company at SummerSlam 2006 when he defeated Randy Orton.

He has made appearances with the company since then, although intermittently.

Hogan is not universally embraced, despite his role in making professional wrestling part of mainstream entertainment, due to his outside-the-ring scandals and behavior throughout the years.
