The former Giants quarterback had previously been favored to be the Indianapolis Colts’ starter in Week 1 of the NFL season, but his odds have fallen off a cliff since camp opened up.
Richardson has gone from a betting underdog (-105) to be the Week 1 starter, to a massive favorite, now coming in at -350 odds at bet365 Sportsbook.
This comes as Richardson has apparently impressed in training camp and been saying all of the right things about competing with Jones.
“Even if they brought Tom Brady in here — he’s the greatest — I just gotta work and try to beat [him] out,” Richardson told The Athletic.
Richardson highlights have been going viral on social media, while things have been mostly quiet on the Jones front.
“My job is to come out here and work,” Jones said of the QB competition battle with Richardson. “Depending on how it works out, that’s way over my head. I think I’ve got to do the best I can … Through the first few practices, there’s a lot of growth, a lot of things you can pick up on.”

Jones added that he’s doing his best to learn the new offensive system under head coach Shane Steichen.
Jones was released during the regular season by the Giants last year, while Richardson was their on-and-off starter.
His 2024 season featured him infamously asking to sit for a play because he was winded on a third-and-goal from the 23, which led to Joe Flacco starting.
