The oldest golf tournament in the world lives to see a 152nd iteration as the 2024 Open Championships continue through Sunday.
It kicked off July 18 to mixed results, as some of the tournament’s top golfers, including Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, and Tiger Woods got off to rocky starts, thanks to a difficult course and a ‘diabolical’ par-3 hole.

Since the tournament is airing on live TV, the easiest way to watch the 2024 Open Championship if you don’t have cable is with a live TV streaming service. The following services offer free trials and include both NBC and USA in their base packages.
As noted above, Peacock will carry every day of the British Open from beginning to end. As of July 18, Peacock costs $7.99/month with ads. If you subscribe today to watch the Open Championship, you’ll also be able to watch the 2024 Olympic Games with just one month of commitment.
The 2024 Open Championship is being played at Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Royal Troon Golf Club is hosting the British Open for the 10th time.
After round one, Justin Thomas was the leader at 3-under. The course has proven difficult thus far as Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy, who battled to the final hole of the U.S. Open last month, both had “frustrating” first rounds that leave them in danger of being cut after round 2 tomorrow. Ahead of the first round, Scottie Scheffler was also considered a favorite to win — as he was in the rest of this season’s majors.
