The BET Awards are back again! This year, with performances from Will Smith, Ice Spice, Latto and show opener Megan Thee Stallion, along with host Taraji P. Henson, the show is sure to be as much of a hit as the entertainment it celebrates.
In addition to the star-studded special performances, Grammy-award winner Usher is going to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement BET Award, which celebrates game-changers and industry pioneers who have left a lasting impact on the culture and entertainment, per Entertainment Tonight.

The BET Awards will air live on June 30 at 8/7c.
The awards will be broadcast live on BET, BET.com and BET+ from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The show will also be simulcast on MTV, Comedy Central, MTV2, TVLand, Nickelodeon, Pop and Logo. If you aren’t a cable subscriber, streaming services that carry BET include Sling TV, Hulu + LiveTV, FuboTV, PlutoTV and Philo.
If you’re not a subscriber to any of the above networks or platforms, free trials are available of Hulu+LiveTV (three days) , FuboTV (seven days) and Philo (seven days), in addition to watching free on BET.com.
For all awards but one, BET uses a traditional voting academy made up of titans in the industry to make decisions on winners. What fans can vote for is the Viewer’s Choice Award, which honors viewers’ favorite musical artist. The nominees viewers can vote for this year include Doja Cat, Beyoncé, Jack Harlow, and more. Viewers can submit their vote on BET’s website, up until show time on Sunday.
Since 2001, The BET Awards have honored the individuals who contribute to Black culture as writers, musicians, filmmakers, philanthropists and more, according to their website. This year, the two front running nominees are Drake and Nicki Minaj, with seven and six nominations, respectively, per Billboard.
