It’s time to outwit, outplay, and outlast some more because Survivor returns for its 49th season tonight.
Host Jeff Probst will welcome 18 new castaways to the Mamanuca Islands for a chance to win the title of sole survivor and a $1 million prize. The show will keep the same format it has used since Season 40, with 18 contestants new to the world of Survivor split into three tribes of six players.
This season faced an early shake up when two castaways were removed for pre-game violations just hours before cameras started rolling; they were replaced by alternates Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu and Jason Treul. The cast also includes a former Marvel Studios executive, Nate Moore, best known for his work on the Black Panther franchise.
Next season is the big 5-0, and two contestants from this season will return for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, though their identities are still unknown.

Survivor Season 49 premieres tonight, Sept. 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET. New episodes will air weekly on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET all season.
