And then there were five.

After last night’s Disney Night (Part 1) wrapped up with touching Mother’s Day tributes, the American Idol Top 7 was cut down by two. Tonight, the Top 5 will perform twice each with songs that celebrate iconic Disney heroes and villains. Guest mentor and Disney composer Lin-Manuel Miranda will once again appear in the episode.

Two more contestants’ American Idol journeys will end tonight ahead of Sunday night’s Grand Finale, which will feature the Top 3 performers.

Yes! A new episode of American Idol airs tonight, May 12, at 8 p.m. ET only on ABC.

The only way to watch American Idol live without cable is by using a live TV streaming service, particularly one with a free trial. We recommend DIRECTV, which includes ABC in its base plan and comes with a five-day free trial.

fuboTV is another great free option that’s also offering great savings on the first month — $20 off, to be exact, after a seven-day free trial.

American Idol does not stream live on Hulu, but subscribers will be able to watch tonight’s episode on Hulu beginning tomorrow morning.

It’s the most cost-effective way to tune in to American Idol if you’re fine not watching it live.

These five contestants survived the first half of Disney Night to move on to tonight’s heroes-and-villains themed performances.
