NextImg:How to watch NHL Draft 2025 for free: Start time, live stream, draft order

The 2024-25 NHL season ended last week, but the league begins looking to the future tonight with the 2025 NHL Draft.

The New York Islanders had a 3.5% chance of landing the first overall pick, and they did exactly that when the No. 13 ball. The Islanders will pick first overall tonight for the first time since 2009.

Who will they pick? Well, it seems the widespread expectation is that they’ll select Matthew Schaefer, who fought through two unimaginable tragedies on his path to the NHL Draft.

2025 nhl draft: what to know

Other names you’ll likely see selected early in the draft include Long Island native James Hagens, Michael Misa, Anton Frondell, Porter Martone, and Brady Martin.

Below, we’ve outlined everything you need to know to tune into both days of the NHL draft, from channels to times.

The first round of the NHL Draft is tonight, June 27, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Rounds 2-7 of the NHL Draft will air on June 28, beginning at 11 a.m. ET on NHL Network.

If you don’t have cable or a TV antenna, you’ll need a live TV streaming service to stream the NHL Draft for free. One option we love is Hulu + Live TV, which comes with three days free and starts at $82.99/month after. The Hulu + Live TV base plan includes USA and NBC, where the tournament is airing across four days.
