The Falcons are coming into Week 2 without a win after losing their Week 1 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-20. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was 27-of-42 for 298 yards and two touchdowns in only his fourth career start.
McCarthy and Penix Jr. last faced off as the quarterbacks of Michigan and Washington, respectively, in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship.
